Leather is a generic term for a tanned animal hide. Most leather used today is from cows, but the hides from pigs, horses, goats, reptile are leather as well. Leather is used for making Belts, shoes, skirts, saddles, handbags. The leather used for each one is considerably different. We deal in Vegetable (or Bark) Tanned Leather have been tanned with vegetable materials that are derived from certain plants and woods.

Each cut of leather has a different use. The diagrams alongside show what the different cuts of leather are usually used for.

   

SHOULDER for general use
BACK is best leather for belts
SIDE for general use
BELLY is used when no strength
is required, or for practise
